The Art of Nathalie Villeneuve

November 2 through November 7, 2014

MERIDEN, CT.- The Augusta Curtis Cultural Center of Meriden is pleased to announce the art of Nathalie Villeneuve. Canadian-born visual artist Nathalie Villeneuve paintings are best described as Expressionist meets Parisian chic. Ms. Villeneuve's, strong influence of Franz Marc, a German printmaker considered a pioneer of the German Expressionist movement, creates a series of heavy lines contrasting bright colors fading into soft brush strokes on canvas. Her body of work depicts women in dance, cinema, photography and even the mundane such as in the grocery store. The scenes she creates on canvas consisting of elegant, long-legged feminine figures gracefully perched and frozen in time during moments of peaceful reflections.

Ms. Villeneuve, a Meriden resident has shown her artwork at various galleries and venues in Connecticut and Canada. She now has a growing body of collectors throughout the U.S. Northeast. Ms. Villeneuve studied at the Dicksen Art Center/UCLA under Professor Roger Herman towards receiving her Bachelor's of Interdisciplinary Art.

Ms. Villeneuve's art entitled “Self-Expression, Joy and Simplicity” will be on display for limited engagement at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center located at 175 East Main Street in Meriden, CT opening Sunday November 2, 2014 to November 7, 2014. An opening reception is planned for Sunday November 2nd from 7pm to 9pm. The opening is free and open to the public. The artist will be available to meet and greet.

Listen up Ladies and Gentlemen,

If the one you love does a 180 on you and becomes a stranger in your life, stop trying to hold on to someone who wants to be free!  Follow the LEAD and MAKE A U TURN so both of you are headed in opposite directions.  Be very thankful you were strong enough to walk away before they had the chance to become part of your lifetime! The Season is over, do not obsess over the reason.

HTH welcomes Brenda Jones founder/designer of *HugWraps* these beautiful garments are alternatives to those unattractive hospital gowns made for cancer patients to wear during their various treatments. Brenda Jones felt as if her world had ended when she was diagnosed with breast cancer back in October 2008. Being forced to put on a drab, generic, embarrassing traditional hospital gown every time she went in for treatment only made the experience worse. So with a flash of inspiration — and a crash-course in sewing — she decided to do something about it. Much to her surprise, the kimono-style wrap she designed to give herself some dignity in the waiting room started garnering requests from other patients. Today? My Two Cents of Cerebral (My Mirror and ME)

Some people have experience so many heartache, pain and disappointments that they have lost faith in the one they see when they look in the mirror.  This is such an issue that many begin to hate, loathe and even wish harm to the person on the other end just to punish them for allowing such things to manifest in their lives. 

The issue is that the person standing on the outside needs to realize is the fact that things happen in this experience called life and sometimes many people tend to place burdens and blame on the man or woman in the mirror because they have become accustomed to being in the battles and struggles. There is no one there to blame but the reflective image in the mirror. 

Let's pretend you are on the other side of that mirror, what would you tell the person on the outside looking in? 

HEY you! I realize we have been through some rough patched and had to jump some really high hurdles but I am no more to blame than you are so stop it! I need you to believe in me so that WE can become strong enough to face whatever comes our way.  I will make a deal with you, if you believe in me I will believe in you; we can walk this road together and we will make it through.  

The moral of the story?  Just remember the person you see in the mirror is no more the cause of those heartaches and pains in your life than you are so stop playing the blame game. It will be OK and remember when the going gets tough you may have nobody to depend on but the person you see in the mirror.  BE nice to that person because he/she may be the only ally your have.  Believe in the BEAUTY that is you; you have won the hardest part of the battle!

If you are going to put on a show make it a great one!
If you are going to pretend you are crying, show me some tears
AND
If you can create the prop tears DO NOT turn them off when someone calls you out on your mess.
BECAUSE  at that moment you remove all doubt about the question of your authenticity.

OM gosh people stop buying into every performance you see or hear!

This does not apply to those crying in silence because our tears are on the inside where no one can see them.

Over eating and bad health habits are usually the symptoms of a greater root cause; for me it was the inability to grieve. Grief will not be ignored. It insists on being heard and in some definable way, expressed. You must allow for its needful venting or it will quietly, slowly invoke a violent inward collapse like nothing else can. My known strength was no match for the onslaught of tragedy, death and loss I had to face in a matter of a few years time. I kept breathing but I had stopped living. One routine doctor’s visit slapped me back to consciousness and responding to a special announcement led me to the beginning of a life change. I came to realize, I want to live. What if?

You receive a letter like this?  Will you be continuing the journey or venturing out without a great ally?

I am at yet another crossroad in my life!  I realize that some people are very happy with the appetizers of life and not willing to do the work to get to the main course.  People just want the fast fame, money and even love.  I have decided to begin to distance myself; there is no reason to ask why because deep down you know already as I have said this many times before.  When our missions are no longer aligned and you have chosen to align with others who I know are on missions for their own profits and success only using you as a stepping stone; our time will be ending.

I leave you with a prayer and only well wishes but the fork in the road leads me in the opposite direction.  Be blessed, I wish you well!

Goodbye my old friend new horizons await and I am ready to explore the challenges!

Many of us die mental and spiritual deaths; we become the walking dead!  Life without purpose has no meaning.  We must take all of the burdens that hold us back to the LORD and leave them there. Some battles are not our own to fight and some people are not meant to be in our lives if they are bringing us down; we need to let all of it go.  GOD gave us life to live with divine purpose NOT demon filled death!  Crawl if you must but move forward into the light then stand up and bask in the beauty of the possibilities that surround you.

Death will come soon enough so enjoy every wakening moment living your life with meaning and purpose!
